Community Blog for the Glen Park neighborhood of San Francisco.
Looking at crime statistics for Balboa Park/Mission Terrace/Mission vs. Glen Park in the last 3 months:BP - 5x more assaults, 3.5x robberies, 1.5x larceny/theft, = burglaries.Ingleside needs to look at its priorities, and GP should NOT get more. This was a terrible crime, but overall GP is MUCH safer than other parts of the district.
"This was a terrible crime, but overall GP is MUCH safer than other parts of the district."I live in GP, I read the Ingleside Station daily crime newsletter and I think this is true.I'm very alert when I walk from my car to my building after dark, but you have to be alert in basically every neighborhood in SF. Crime is much, much higher in the Tenderloin, Bayview, Excelsior and Mission than it is in GP. I think the neighborhoods that are the worst off should get the most cops, though I certainly welcome whatever resources GP gets.Everything's relative, but I feel ~relatively~ safe walking in GP during the day, as I do in most SF neighborhoods. After dark is a different story. I feel fortunate that I have a car. Occasionally, I ride Muni and it does not feel safe to me anywhere in SF. I don't have an iPod, but if I did I would not use it on Muni.
